Brief history of Bijoy Phool
In 1998 Poet Shamim Azad (Chair of BSK London) wrote the idea in Daily Janakantha News Paper in Bangladesh and had loads of letters of appreciation from back home. Then again wrote a bigger piece in Weekly Janamot in London and in Bangladesh again in year 2000. Finally the article was published in her book BILETER KOTHA in 2004 Boi-mela.
It is amazing how a TV show can influence people's mind into creativity. Muktir Golpo in Channel S has done the thing which she had been trying for last few years.
We are having a great response for it. People can just print it - cut it -wear it - distribute it like Poppy. Also can collect money and get flowers for our national heroes or their families.
It symbolises Bangladesh's flag- our green land and the red hot sun- our glorious history
“Muktijudhdho o bijoyer chetonay shomunnoto thakun.
Ek theke sholo December Bijoy Phool porun.” Poet Shamim Azad
