Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, London (BSKL) is a non-profit voluntary organisation, which commenced its journey in 2002. We gladly follow the dictum "Alokito Manush Chai: We want Enlightened Humans" of our founder Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed. Poet Shamim Azad is the chair of London, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro. Under her charismatic guidance BSK London has been engaged in creating ' home away from home' for Bengali/ Bangladeshi community so together we can cherish the rich Bengali tradition and vibrant ethnic memoirs of our native land in the heart of this cosmopolitan city.
To promote Bangladeshi culture, heritage, arts and aesthetics in multicultural land, we are working with the local community of East London as well as other Bengali speaking people from different parts of London. We intend to create an atmosphere of native feelings for Bengali community and the next generation through the practice of Bengali ethos and rich legacy. We are determined to promote nationalism and cultural awareness through the cultivation of Bengali literature and cultural values for the British Bangladeshi community.
